Digital innovation strategies in public pediatric hospitals: a systematic review of policies, technologies, and care models

La investigación evalúa las estrategias de innovación digital implementadas en hospitales públicos pediátricos durante los últimos años, con el propósito de identificar políticas, tecnologías y modelos de atención que contribuyan a mejorar la calidad asistencial y reducir disparidades. El estudio tiene un alcance internacional e integra evidencia proveniente de investigaciones empíricas, marcos normativos y experiencias de implementación. Se emplea una metodología de revisión sistemática siguiendo lineamientos PRISMA, lo que permite analizar de manera rigurosa las políticas de equidad digital, las tecnologías emergentes y los modelos organizativos aplicados en entornos pediátricos. Los resultados revelan avances significativos en el uso de telemedicina, inteligencia artificial, interoperabilidad y herramientas participativas, aunque persisten brechas en regulación, infraestructura y alfabetización digital. Las conclusiones destacan la necesidad de marcos éticos robustos, inversión sostenida y estrategias institucionales que fortalezcan la adopción tecnológica para lograr una transformación digital pediátrica efectiva.

The study evaluates digital innovation strategies implemented in public pediatric hospitals in recent years, aiming to identify policies, technologies, and care models that improve service quality and reduce disparities. Its scope is international and integrates evidence from empirical research, regulatory frameworks, and implementation experiences. A systematic review methodology following PRISMA guidelines was applied, allowing rigorous analysis of digital equity policies, emerging technologies, and organizational models used in pediatric care settings. The results show significant progress in the adoption of telemedicine, artificial intelligence, interoperability, and participatory tools, although persistent gaps remain in regulation, infrastructure, and digital literacy. The conclusions emphasize the need for robust ethical frameworks, sustained investment, and institutional strategies that strengthen technological adoption to achieve an effective digital transformation in pediatric healthcare.
