Impact of a Mobile Application on the Employability of Independent Construction WorkersContenido principal del artículo
Labor informality in the construction sector limits employability and increases economic and operational risks for workers. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a mobile application called “Chambita” on improving the employability of construction workers in Huancayo, Peru. An applied quantitative research design was implemented, using a pre-experimental single-group pretest–posttest approach with 30 voluntarily participating workers. The application enabled the creation of professional profiles, work history records, performance ratings, and cost estimation tools. Results showed a significant improvement in employability levels, shifting from a predominantly deficient baseline (93.3%) to a largely optimal final level (86.7%), with statistical significance (p < 0.001). The findings indicate that the mobile application constitutes an effective technological tool for strengthening employability in contexts characterized by high labor informality and limited access to formal employment mechanisms.
