Emotional resilience and its relationship with job performance in hospital workers, Huaraz, PeruContenido principal del artículo
Background: Emotional resilience is a pivotal factor within organizational environments, significantly influencing employees' ability to navigate challenges and sustain optimal job performance. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional resilience and job performance among healthcare workers at the Víctor Ramos Guardia Hospital in Huaraz, Peru. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive-correlational, non-experimental, and cross-sectional approach was employed, involving a sample of 120 employees. Emotional resilience was measured using the CD-RISC instrument, while job performance was assessed via the Graphic Rating Scale. Data analysis was conducted using Spearman’s correlation coefficient. Results: Findings indicate that 85.8% of the staff exhibited high levels of emotional resilience, and 95.0% achieved high job performance. The overall correlation between emotional resilience and performance was positive but weak (Rho = 0.161; p = 0.001). Among the dimensions analyzed, social support demonstrated the strongest association (Rho = 0.215; p = 0.018), whereas optimism showed no significant relationship (Rho = 0.090; p = 0.329). Conclusions: Emotional resilience is directly related to job performance, although the magnitude of this association varies across dimensions. Organizational strategies focused on fostering social support may enhance job performance within hospital settings.
