Crime prevention and crime reduction: a bibliometric analysis for public policyContenido principal del artículo
This bibliometric research analyzes scientific production on crime prevention and reduction, influencing public policies. It examined 223 Scopus documents from 1977-2025 using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix. Findings show increasing interest in predictive technologies, community policing, and early therapies, reducing recidivism up to 18%. Hybrid approaches optimize equitable interventions. Challenges include Global South underrepresentation and lack of longitudinal studies. Integrating big data, psychology, and economics enhances efficacy and equity, requiring ethical strategies against AI biases for sustainability. The study recommends expanding global coverage and strengthening responsible preventive policies for safer societies.
